Two individuals have been arrested by British authorities on suspicion of arson at a restaurant in Ilford.

The fire broke out at the “Indian Aroma” restaurant in the Ilford area, causing extensive material damage and injuring several people. Three individuals were rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition, while two of them remain in critical state this Sunday.

According to the Metropolitan Police, two other suspects are believed to have fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. Investigations are ongoing to identify these individuals.

CCTV footage, obtained by the British news agency PA, shows a group of masked individuals entering the restaurant and pouring an unidentified liquid on the floor. Just seconds later, the interior of the restaurant was engulfed in flames.

“While we have arrested two individuals, our investigation is moving at pace to fully understand what happened on Friday evening,” said DCI Mark Rogers of the Metropolitan Police.

Authorities have appealed to citizens with any information regarding the incident to contact the police immediately.
