In North Mitrovica, no flags were displayed to mark the 18th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence. The only flag visible in the area was placed near a café, while public spaces across the city lacked Kosovo’s state symbols, reports KosovaPress.

Unlike last year, when a ceremonial session was held to celebrate February 17, this year no official events took place in the northern municipalities. The return of the Serbian List to local institutions in the north appears to have contributed to the absence of organized celebrations for Independence Day.

Apart from Serbian flags seen along the streets, the lack of Kosovo flags meant that the holiday passed without symbolic representation in this part of the country.
