Kosovo has been operating with a caretaker government since the conclusion of the February elections this year.

This situation is being viewed as harmful by Member of the European Parliament Thijs Reuten, who stated that Kosovo itself bears responsibility for the internal political deadlock.

According to him, “When you still don’t have a government after elections are held, and the longer this lasts, it also gives people reason to demand the formation of a government.”

“As I have said several times before, I think a country must first look after its own interests. And Kosovo is responsible for its internal political situation and yes, of course, when you still don’t have a government after elections are held, and the longer this lasts, it also gives people reason to demand the formation of the Government,” Reuten told Klan Kosova.

He expressed full confidence that officials in Kosovo will find a solution, stressing that this “will happen soon because it is necessary.”

“It is up to the politicians to do what is in their mandate, and it is important to have a government as soon as possible to resolve the situation, because then we, as the European Parliament, can once again begin to support Kosovo in its application for membership in the Council of Europe, as well as the removal of those ridiculous sanctions that are still in place against Kosovo, and also for its application for membership in the European Union.”

“So I am committed to working again for Kosovo, but there must be a government, and I believe it is time to resolve this situation,” Thijs Reuten declared.
