MEP Thijs Reuten has called on the European Commission to propose the immediate lifting of measures against Kosovo and to begin processing Kosovo’s application for membership in the European Union.
In a post on his X profile, Reuten emphasized that the European Commission should recommend to EU member states the removal of all punitive measures imposed on Kosovo.
“The European Commission must propose to the member states the lifting of the measures and begin processing Kosovo’s EU membership application.”
Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti also reacted to the imposed measures during a meeting in Tirana with Commissioner Marta Kos and Director for Enlargement Gert Jan Koopman. Kurti said this is the last time he will address the issue and reiterated his request for the immediate removal of the sanctions.
Regarding Kosovo’s application for EU membership, both Kurti and President Osmani have repeatedly sought progress. However, three years have passed without any action from the European Union.
