The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukraine are preparing to sign a highly debated mineral agreement following a tense meeting at the Oval Office last Friday, during which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was “ejected” from the building, according to four sources familiar with the situation.

Trump reportedly informed his advisors that he intends to announce the agreement in his speech to Congress on Tuesday evening. However, sources caution that the deal has not yet been signed, and the situation may change.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment, nor did the Ukrainian administration in Kyiv or the Ukrainian embassy in Washington.

The agreement had been suspended following the controversial meeting between Trump and Zelensky, which resulted in the swift departure of the Ukrainian leader from the White House. Zelensky had traveled to Washington specifically to sign the deal.

During the meeting, Trump and Vice President JD Vance reportedly scolded Zelensky, telling him that he should thank the U.S. for its support rather than requesting additional aid in front of the American media.
