Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, announced the commencement of filter installation at the “Kosova B” Power Plant, highlighting that all technical and legal conditions have now been met. The project is being financed with approximately €90 million from the European Union.

“Filter installation at ‘Kosova B’ is starting now, as all technical and legal requirements have been fulfilled, including the boiler dilation completed in 2023. This year, KEK also completed the modernization of the turbine in unit B1. With around €90 million in EU funding, the filters will reduce dust emissions by up to 35 times and nitrogen oxides (NOx) by up to 4 times, bringing emissions in line with EU standards and significantly improving air quality in Obiliq, Fushë Kosovë, Prishtina, and across Kosovo.

I thank the European Union for their long-term support in modernizing our energy sector and protecting the environment, and I also thank KEK employees and management for their years of work in bringing this complex project to the implementation phase. This is a concrete step toward cleaner and safer energy supply for our families and businesses, and toward a healthier future for the citizens of Kosovo,” Rizvanolli stated.
