Five rockets struck areas in and around Baghdad International Airport, including the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center (BDSC), a facility used by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, injuring five Iraqi nationals.

Local security sources said an initial explosion was heard around 7 p.m. local time. A later assessment revealed that one rocket hit an air navigation facility on the civilian side of the airport, while four others landed inside the BDSC compound.

It was not immediately clear who launched the rockets. Attacks targeting U.S.-linked facilities, including sites near Baghdad International Airport, have frequently been reported.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has issued near-daily statements claiming responsibility for dozens of attacks within each 24-hour period since the start of the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran, often without specifying the locations.

The United States has previously carried out airstrikes on sites linked to Iranian-backed Shiite militias, which Washington considers a threat to its regional interests.
