At the 3rd International Forum for Women, Peace, and Security held in Prishtina, Rodney Williams, the Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, delivered a powerful speech honoring the progress and leadership of the Republic of Kosovo.
Accompanied by his wife, Williams expressed his deep admiration for President Vjosa Osmani and her unwavering commitment to strategic partnerships, the rule of law, and safeguarding peace within the European community.
“Your efforts are exemplary,” Williams stated, praising Osmani’s visionary leadership in promoting transparency, democratic reform, and inclusive diplomacy.
A Global Tribute to Kosovo’s Transformation
Williams highlighted Kosovo’s inspiring transformation from war-torn territory to a nation striving for sustainable peace and democratic integrity.
“Kosovo’s journey from conflict to confidence is a testament to the power of persistence and purpose,” he said, calling the country’s resilience an example admired worldwide.
He also commended Osmani’s bold advocacy for women’s leadership in peacebuilding and her alignment with UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which promotes gender inclusion in conflict resolution and post-war recovery.
A Shared Vision Among Small Nations
Williams emphasized the shared values between Kosovo and small developing states like Antigua and Barbuda—especially in the pursuit of youth empowerment, inclusive governance, and social justice.
“Peace is never accidental. It is earned, defended, and preserved through vision, inclusion, and courage,” he concluded, encouraging unity and continued cooperation.
