26 Years Since the Rogovë Massacre: Honoring the Fallen

Today marks 26 years since the massacre in the village of Rogovë, where Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) fighters fell into an ambush, and many civilians were also brutally killed.

On January 27, 28, and 29, 1999, a total of 21 individuals lost their lives in Rogovë. Among them were: Agim Zeneli, Luan Smajli, Agron and Sejdi Rama, Pren and Meme Lleshi, Agush Gjoci, Valon Gashi, Bahtjar Morina, Daut Kelmendi, Emrush Çeta, Kasim Shala, Hamdi Berisha, Gezim Ademi, Haxhi Lypjani, Gasper Karaçi, Ilir Merturi, Naim Gashi, Naim Dreshaj, Sahit Krasniqi, and Vesel Avdyli.

Additionally, nine others who fell in the villages of Goden and Bishtazhin in Gjakova municipality are also remembered on these dates.

To honor their memory, commemorations are being held today at the “Monument of the Martyrs” in Rogovë and at the graves of the fallen.
