In an emotional farewell video, he expressed that he will miss Kosovo—not only for its beautiful weather, but also for the kindness of its people and the natural beauty of the land.

Former German Ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, is concluding his five-year term in the country.

“After five years here, I must say goodbye, and I will miss Kosovo. Not just the weather, but also the courtesy of the people and the mountain walks. You know, when I look to my left from Germia Park, where I often rode my mountain bike, these are the things I will miss before returning to Berlin. I’ve had a wonderful time here,” Rohde said.

He also highlighted achievements during his tenure, such as the visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens in 2024, while noting that Kosovo still has not joined the Council of Europe.

“We have witnessed many developments. Visa liberalization was a major achievement. There are also things that haven’t happened yet, like Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe. The ties between our countries are unique. As you know, 600,000 Kosovars or people of Kosovar origin live in Germany. This number is growing, and I am confident our connections will continue to deepen,” he added.

Rohde, an avid football fan often seen playing in Kosovo, symbolically “passed the ball” to his successor, Rainer Rudolph, who will take over as Germany’s ambassador to Kosovo.

“And, to stay in football terms, I will soon pass the ball to my successor, Rainer Rudolph,” Rohde concluded.
