Germany’s outgoing ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, commented on the sanctions imposed on Kosovo, saying they have targeted the wrong people and should be lifted. According to him, the lack of legal action against Milan Radojčić may be one of the reasons for the stalemate in Kosovo–Serbia talks.
Sanctions and EU Skepticism
In his interview with “Rubikon” on Klan Kosovo, Rohde emphasized:
“Sanctions should be lifted because they targeted the wrong people. Some EU countries remain skeptical, and the measures were not lifted last year as planned.”
He added that some sanctions remain against Kosovo’s institutions due to skepticism from certain EU member states.
Legal Action and Rule of Law
Rohde highlighted that legal action against Milan Radojčić has not occurred, contributing to the stalemate in EU–Serbia negotiations. He added that sanctions are applied when concerning actions occur, but this does not mean Germany is not a close partner to Kosovo.
“We want the rule of law to be upheld and will continue supporting Kosovo,” Rohde said.
