Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that Romania will not send troops to Ukraine but will make its military bases available to NATO allies, including the United States, as part of efforts to achieve sustainable peace in the region.
“This could be Romania’s contribution to ensuring lasting peace in Ukraine: providing our military bases to NATO allies,” Bolojan said. He added that the bases are already being used for air patrols and joint exercises with NATO forces, primarily over the Black Sea.
Meanwhile, preparations at NATO headquarters have intensified regarding security guarantees for Ukraine, with the United States signaling a more limited role and requesting that the main financial commitment come from European countries.
