German politician Michael Roth responded to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s comments about the meeting between Aleksandar Vulin and Vladimir Putin. Vučić had claimed that if Roth’s views were followed, Kosovo would be a member of the UN today, and Serbia would not exist economically, according to Gazeta Express.

Vučić also criticized Roth, noting that it was good Roth had left politics since, according to Vučić, he was “unsuccessful.”

In response to Vučić’s remarks, former German Minister Roth posted a photo with the Kosovar Ambassador to Germany, Faruk Ajeti.

Roth stated that the Western Balkans will remain a matter close to his heart and emphasized that he will continue to speak out against nationalism, authoritarianism, and servility to Putin.

“I promise you,” Roth wrote.

On September 5, Roth had tagged President Vučić in a post, saying that if Vulin represents the stance of the Serbian Government, then the EU integration process is meaningless.

“Friendship with war criminals + dismantling of democracy may lead to the Kremlin, but definitely not to the EU,” Roth had written, criticizing Vulin’s meeting with Vladimir Putin.
