Employees of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) are holding a protest today to express dissatisfaction over delays in salary payments.

The demonstration is taking place at the entrance of RTK’s headquarters at 11:00 a.m., according to IndeksOnline.

The issue with unpaid wages stems from the failure to approve RTK’s annual budget, which has disrupted regular financial operations at Kosovo’s public broadcaster.

Union Calls for Solidarity

The RTK Workers’ Union (SPERTK) has called on all employees to join the protest and show solidarity, emphasizing that this is the second time in three months that RTK staff have been left without salaries.

“This is the second time within three months that employees of the public broadcaster have gone without pay, facing economic uncertainty and jeopardizing the institution’s normal operations,” the union said in a statement.

Financial Crisis Threatens Public Mission

The union warned that RTK is currently engaged in several major projects directly tied to its public service mission and the broader national interest.

“The financial crisis endangers the implementation of these projects and undermines RTK’s role as an independent and inclusive public broadcaster,” the statement added.

The government has yet to announce when the budget impasse will be resolved or when employees can expect payment.
