The Workers’ Union of RTK (SPERTK) is escalating its actions daily. Calls for solutions directed at institutions are unrelenting.
Recently, SPERTK took another step by sending a letter to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, thanking her for the attention given to the severe financial situation at RTK, while emphasizing that current measures do not provide an urgent solution.
In their letter, the Union stressed that the financial crisis has reached a critical point. They noted that the creation of the Budget and Finance Commission, proposed as a mechanism to address the problem, does not provide immediate relief for the more than 700 employees of the public broadcaster.
According to SPERTK, even if the commission were fully operational, “the situation should never have been allowed to escalate to this level.” The Union highlighted that workers are in a dire social and economic state and cannot wait any longer.
SPERTK called on the Government of Kosovo to intervene urgently, using legal and institutional mechanisms to ensure salaries are paid and the situation at RTK is stabilized.
At the conclusion of the letter, the Union emphasized that a solution must come before the formation of the permanent Budget and Transfers Commission, as any further delay will only worsen the situation for employees.
