The Trade Union of RTK Workers has notified all employees that tomorrow, from 11:00 to 13:00, all sectors of the Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) will enter a general strike.
The union stated that if the situation remains unclear and their demands continue to be ignored, they will decide to boycott the majority of RTK programs and news broadcasts.
“During the strike, alongside the work stoppage, protests will be organized and additional on-screen actions will be taken as a sign of resistance to the difficult situation faced by our colleagues and the public broadcaster,” the statement reads.
The union also invited media outlets to attend the start of the general strike, to follow developments closely.
According to the union, this action comes seven days after submitting their list of demands and notifying all relevant stakeholders, in accordance with the law on strikes.
They also issued a renewed call for RTK management to halt coverage of the election campaign and other politically charged events.
“If this does not happen, the Union will make this decision independently,” the RTK union warned.
