The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) has expressed full solidarity with the employees of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), who protested on Wednesday due to not receiving their salaries.
The President of AGK, Xhemajl Rexha, along with board members and executive director Getoarbë Mulliqi, joined the protest organized by the RTK Workers’ Union (SPERTK).
In a statement, AGK strongly supported the demands of RTK workers and called on the Government of Kosovo to urgently explore all legal avenues to allocate the budget owed to the Public Broadcaster.
“Journalists, cameramen, editors, and all RTK staff must not work under financial pressure by being denied their salaries — nor under political pressure, which continues to be exerted by the Government of Kosovo,” the AGK emphasized.
The association highlighted the essential role of RTK in Kosovo’s media landscape, particularly in providing timely information to the public in all the languages spoken by the country’s diverse communities.
AGK reaffirmed its commitment to supporting any form of protest that the RTK Workers’ Union deems necessary to address the ongoing budget shortfall.
