The leadership of the RTK Workers’ Union (SPERTK), consisting of Chairman Gëzim Bimbashi, Deputy Chairman Blerim Ruhani, and board members Fisnik Durguti and Rabit Osmani, held a meeting today with the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, to address the financial crisis facing the Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK).

During the meeting, the SPERTK representatives briefed Speaker Basha on the severe situation at the public broadcaster, particularly the lack of budget allocation, which has resulted in significant delays in employees’ salaries.

Speaker Basha expressed his support for RTK and acknowledged the urgency of the situation, while noting that it remains uncertain whether other political parties share the same willingness to resolve the issue.

“He also announced that during tomorrow’s meeting of the Assembly Presidency with political party representatives, he will urgently request the formation of Assembly committees to enable a prompt resolution of this matter,” the RTK statement reads.

The RTK union leadership reiterated its call to all political parties to act responsibly, as over 700 RTK employees remain unpaid, jeopardizing both their livelihoods and the continuity of public broadcasting.

“The RTK Workers’ Union calls on all parliamentary groups, political representatives in the Assembly, and the RTK management and Board to act immediately to ensure the financial and functional stability of the public broadcaster,” the statement further emphasizes.
