The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) has expressed deep concern over the fact that 700 employees of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) remain unpaid for the month of July.
AGK voiced its worry for the economic well-being of all colleagues who have not been compensated for their work, despite continuing their duties into August.
The association called on RTK’s management to intensify efforts to secure the necessary budget and to maintain transparency with its employees regarding its actions.
AGK views the failure to allocate funds for the second half of the year as a form of increased political pressure from the caretaker Kurti Government on the Public Broadcaster.
“It is high time for the Government to explore all legal avenues to allocate the funds owed to RTK,” AGK stated, reaffirming its solidarity with RTK staff and recognizing their important role in informing the public interest.
