Rubber Boat Nearly Sinks in Durrës Bay – Five People Rescued

Five individuals were successfully rescued on Wednesday near Durrës Bay, after the rubber boat they were traveling in was at risk of sinking due to bad weather and strong winds.

According to the official statement from the State Police, Maritime Police Unit patrols responded swiftly, deploying watercraft to reach and safely bring the citizens to shore.

“Earlier today, during routine patrols across the entire maritime area of the district, officers from the Maritime Police Unit identified five individuals near Durrës Bay signaling for help, as their rubber boat was in danger of capsizing due to strong winds. The unit’s officers immediately intervened using watercraft and successfully brought the citizens ashore. All individuals were found to be in good health,” the statement reads.

Police confirmed that all five rescued persons are in stable condition, while issuing a public appeal to both citizens and tourists to promptly seek assistance in the event of difficulties at sea.

“The Maritime Police Unit urges any citizen or tourist facing difficulty or in need of assistance to contact us immediately. Our response will be swift, professional, and specialized,” the official communication concluded.
