U.S. Senator Marco Rubio has expressed strong support for a bill introduced by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham that proposes a new round of harsh sanctions against Russia and its trade partners. Rubio is one of Rks News.

The bill, presented in early April by Graham and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, envisions primary and secondary sanctions on Moscow if it refuses U.S. proposals to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. It also includes import tariffs of up to 500% on goods from countries that purchase Russian oil, gas, or uranium.

However, former President Donald Trump opposes the bill, favoring a more cautious approach to escalating tensions with Russia.

Graham, who is on Russia’s list of designated terrorists, continues to take a firm stance against the Kremlin in Congress. The bill is seen as a key test for future U.S. policy toward Russia and its influence on global energy markets, as the war in Ukraine continues to have significant international consequences.
