During a press conference at the U.S.-Israel ceasefire coordination center, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio was asked whether Israel could autonomously resume fighting if Hamas rearmed or regrouped.
Commitment to the Ceasefire Plan
Rubio dismissed the idea of Israel requiring U.S. permission, emphasizing that all parties are committed to the existing diplomatic strategy.
“I don’t think this has anything to do with permission or anything like that. This is about the fact that we are all committed to making this plan work. There is no plan B. This is the best plan, the only plan. It is the one we believe can succeed, and it is already on the road to success,” he replied.
Rubio also stressed that the American-backed ceasefire plan has broad regional support and described it as the “best” and “only plan” available in the diplomatic sphere, according to The Guardian.
