After the signing by all member countries, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio took the floor.
Rubio praised the Peace Board and credited Donald Trump for its creation.
“He is not limited by some of the things that have happened in the past, and he is willing to speak or engage with anyone in the interest of peace,” Rubio said.
Rubio emphasized that the primary task of this group is “first and foremost to ensure that this peace agreement in Gaza becomes sustainable.”
He also noted that the board could eventually look at other countries.
Since the details of the board’s activities are still unclear, Rubio described it as a work in progress.
