U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that today’s meetings with the Ukrainian delegation were “the most productive and meaningful” discussions in the peace process so far, prompting the U.S. team to introduce several adjustments to the proposed peace plan.
Following the talks, Rubio confirmed that Washington is now working on “some changes” to the plan, apparently based on suggestions provided by the Ukrainian side.
“We already have a very solid working document built on input from all relevant parties involved. Today, we were able to review some of these points, one by one,” Rubio said.
He added that both sides made significant progress, although further work is still required.
“Our teams have now returned to their rooms and are working on some of the suggestions we received. We are making adjustments in hopes of narrowing the remaining differences and getting closer to something that both Ukraine and the United States can fully support,” he stated.
Rubio also emphasized that any finalized peace plan would require the approval of Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and input from Russia, though he insisted he remained calm and confident about the process.
