The French Ambassador to Kosovo, Olivier Guerot, marked the anniversary of former President Ibrahim Rugova’s passing with a tribute emphasizing Rugova’s enduring legacy.

In a post shared on the social media platform “X,” Guerot highlighted Rugova’s resilience in the face of adversity and his steadfast vision of a free and democratic Kosovo, which earned him the trust of the international community.

“Tribute to Ibrahim Rugova. His resilience against adversity and his vision of a free and democratic Kosovo gained him the confidence of the international community and remain a source of inspiration,” wrote Guerot.

On Tuesday morning, Ambassador Guerot joined other accredited diplomats in Kosovo and President Vjosa Osmani in paying homage at Rugova’s grave, commemorating the 19th anniversary of his passing.

This tribute underscores Rugova’s lasting influence as a figure who championed peaceful resistance and democratic ideals, solidifying Kosovo’s path toward independence and its place on the international stage.
