Russia and China have issued a joint statement expressing concern over the growing dangers posed by deteriorating relations between the nuclear powers.

“There can be no winners in a nuclear war. Both countries noted concern about Australia’s participation in US plans for an enhanced nuclear deterrent.

Russia and China are opposed to a protracted conflict in Ukraine, and it is possible that it will pass into an uncontrollable phase.

Moscow and Beijing will further deepen trust and cooperation in the military field, will expand the scale of joint military exercises,” said the statement quoted by Russian state media.

China said it supports the Russian side’s efforts to guarantee sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Both nations opposed attempts by some countries to use space for military confrontation. Russia and China condemn initiatives to seize the assets and property of foreign states,” the statement said.
