Members of the Western alliance NATO must prepare for a possible attack from Russia within the next four years, according to Germany’s defense chief.

General Carsten Breuer told the BBC that Russia is producing hundreds of tanks annually, many of which could be used in an attack against NATO member states in the Baltics by 2029 or even earlier.

He also insisted that NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, remains united on the war in Ukraine, despite recent differences in opinion expressed by Hungary and Slovakia.

General Breuer made his remarks on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue, a defense summit held in Singapore and organized by the think tank International Institute for Strategic Studies, according to the BBC.
