A Russian drone struck a commercial business in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, on Wednesday morning, killing two people and injuring seven others, local officials report.
- Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed on Telegram that two fatalities occurred.
- Regional governor Oleh Sinyubov stated that five of the injured are in serious condition and are receiving necessary medical care. The strike also caused a fire at the business.
- Among those in intensive care are a 47-year-old man, a 50-year-old man, a 60-year-old woman, and men aged 39 and 49.
Kharkiv, a largely Russian-speaking city, lies about 30 km from the Russian border. It resisted the initial wave of the Russian invasion in February 2022 and has since been a frequent target of Russian air attacks.
