Russian forces launched 87 drones and four missiles at Ukraine overnight, targeting the capital city of Kyiv and other areas, Ukrainian authorities reported on October 6. Ukrainian air defense units shot down 56 drones and two missiles, according to a post from the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram.
Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv military administration, stated on Telegram that “Russian drones were launched at Kyiv in multiple waves and from different directions.”
The attacks on Kyiv reportedly lasted for more than five hours during the night.
Russian airstrikes also hit the port of Odesa on the Black Sea, causing several explosions in the city, local authorities said.
There have been no reports of casualties from the overnight attacks carried out by Moscow, which initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Meanwhile, the governor of Kherson, Oleksandr Prokudin, stated earlier on October 6 that one civilian was killed and 15 others were injured in this southern Ukrainian region during Russian attacks carried out in the previous 24 hours.
