Moscow, June 2 – Russia has proposed a temporary ceasefire lasting two to three days in specific conflict zones in Ukraine, according to Vladimir Medinsky, the chief negotiator appointed by President Vladimir Putin, Rks News reports.
Medinsky stated that Russian negotiators have submitted a detailed memorandum outlining Moscow’s conditions for a full ceasefire. The Ukrainian side is expected to review the proposal.
In addition, Medinsky announced that Russia plans to deploy more than 6,000 troops to Ukraine over the coming week, Sky News reports.
The proposal marks a new phase in the stalled negotiations between the two countries, though the inclusion of troop deployments raises doubts over Russia’s intentions and the sincerity of its peace overtures.
