Dmitry Medvedev, former President of Russia and current Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, responded to the joint US-Israel strikes on Iran, calling previous negotiations between Washington and Tehran “just a cover.”

In a social media post, Medvedev claimed that discussions over Iran’s nuclear program were never sincere:

“The peacekeeper is back at work. Talks with Iran were just a cover. Everyone knew this.”

He also drew a historical comparison, noting that the United States is 249 years old, while the Persian Empire was founded over 2,500 years ago, and concluded:

“Let’s see what happens in about 100 years…”

Medvedev’s statement signals Russia’s disapproval of the US-Israel military action and reinforces Moscow’s narrative that diplomatic efforts with Iran were insincere or symbolic.
