Russia has stated that it cannot accept the US proposals for ending the war in Ukraine in their current form, as they do not address the issues Moscow considers to be the root causes of the conflict. A senior Russian diplomat, Sergei Ryabkov, suggested that US-Russia talks on this matter have stalled.

Ryabkov’s comments reflect ongoing disagreements between Moscow and Washington. Just over two weeks ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that the US proposals needed reworking. This statement follows growing frustrations, with US President Donald Trump reportedly losing patience with what he sees as delays in reaching a broader agreement with Moscow.

Trump recently expressed anger toward Putin, mentioning the possibility of sanctions against countries purchasing Russian oil if Moscow is seen as blocking a peace agreement.

Meanwhile, Ryabkov, a specialist in US-Russia relations, made it clear that Russia is not ready to move forward with an agreement. He was quoted in an interview with Russia’s “International Affairs” magazine, stating: “We take the proposed models and solutions from the Americans very seriously, but we cannot accept them in their current form.”
