Russia has accused Poland of threatening a “terrorist act” against the plane of Russian President Vladimir Putin, after the Polish Foreign Ministry stated that the Russian leader could be detained if he uses Polish airspace to travel to Hungary for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Poles are now ready to carry out terrorist acts,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, according to the state-run Russian news agency TASS.

“I recently heard Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski threaten that the security of Putin’s plane would not be guaranteed if he flies through Polish airspace to Budapest for the summit with Trump,” Lavrov added.
