Russia has expressed a desire to resume direct flights with the United States and is seeking a deeper dialogue with Washington on this matter, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov announced in an interview with the TASS agency.
Ryabkov stated that beyond restarting flights, unresolved issues remain, such as easing restrictions on Russian diplomatic staff, who are currently limited to a 25-mile radius around diplomatic missions.
Although the U.S. has been reserved regarding the direct flight proposal, Russia is continuing efforts to open a dialogue on the topic. Ryabkov emphasized that two rounds of consultations have already taken place to reduce tensions and improve the functioning of diplomatic missions, following directives from both presidents.
The date for the next round of consultations remains under discussion, as diplomatic relations between the two countries aim for a return to normalcy after numerous challenges in recent years.
