Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that Russia will summon the German ambassador to communicate retaliatory measures against what Moscow terms “unjustified pressure and harassment” of Russian journalists in Germany.

Zakharova stated that Russian journalists and their families have faced restrictions, including passport revocations and obstacles to their freedom of movement. She emphasized that Russia views these actions as violations of fundamental rights and will respond with equivalent measures.

Moscow has had previous clashes with Berlin over this issue. Last November, Russia expelled a German correspondent and a cameraman in retaliation for similar actions by Germany against Russian state media.

German authorities, meanwhile, have stated that the expulsion of some Russian journalists was due to violations of residency rules, emphasizing that free reporting by Russian journalists in Germany remains guaranteed.
