Russia warns of unspecified measures against US drones over the Black Sea

RKS NEWS

The Russian Ministry of Defense has instructed its officials to prepare a “response” to American drones flying over the Black Sea. According to the ministry, there has been a recent “increased intensity” of American drones over the Black Sea, stating that they “gather information and intelligence on the precision weapons with which the Ukrainian army is supplied by Western allies to carry out attacks against Russian targets.” This indicates an increased involvement of the United States and NATO countries in the conflict in Ukraine, siding with the Kiev regime, as mentioned in a statement.

The Ministry emphasized that Defense Minister Andrei Belousov has ordered the General Staff to “make proposals for measures in response to provocations.” Washington and Moscow have previously clashed over American drones in the Black Sea. In a 2023 incident, a Russian fighter jet damaged an American drone there, causing it to crash. The repetition of such a confrontation could further escalate tensions surrounding the war in Ukraine, as reported by Rel.

In March 2023, a Russian Su-27 fighter jet damaged an American MQ-9 drone, causing it to crash into the Black Sea. The Ministry’s statement highlights the potential risks of such incidents, as they could lead to direct confrontation between the alliance and the Russian Federation. The responsibility for these actions, according to the Ministry, will fall on NATO members.
