A Russian attack has killed at least four people, including three young children, in a city west of Kharkiv, Ukrainian officials said.
Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, stated that two boys, both aged 1, a 2-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man died after a drone struck the house where they were staying.
A 35-year-old pregnant woman and a 76-year-old woman were injured in the attack in Bohodukhiv, Synegubov said. The Tuesday evening strike in Bohodukhiv comes as Moscow renews attacks following a one-week pause.
Russian forces also dropped seven bombs on the city of Slovyansk around noon on Tuesday, according to Donetsk Regional Governor Vadym Filashkin on Telegram. Two people, including an 11-year-old girl, were killed.
On Monday, nighttime drone attacks across the country disrupted electricity for tens of thousands and killed at least four people, including a mother and her 10-year-old son in Bohodukhiv, Ukrainian officials said, according to Reuters.
Local authorities have declared a state of emergency due to the energy situation in the Kharkiv region.
This follows a so-called “energy ceasefire,” intended to allow Ukraine’s energy sector a break during -20°C temperatures, which expired last week.
President Zelensky has said that the United States wants the war with Russia to end by June, and both sides have been invited to talks in the U.S. next week.
Meanwhile, a massive Ukrainian drone strike in Volzhsky, in Russia’s Volgograd region, was reported Wednesday evening.
