Around 35,000 families in southern Ukraine’s Odessa region were left without electricity following a Russian drone attack, DTEK, the electricity company, reported on Tuesday, describing the damage as severe.
“Restoring power will take time,” the company said. In Odessa city, the attack hit infrastructure facilities and an apartment building, according to Mayor Serhiy Lysak on Telegram. Two people were injured.
Due to heavy airstrikes in recent days, practically no electricity is available in the capitals Kyiv, Dnipro, Odessa, and other cities. This has caused serious issues with heating and water supply, while freezing conditions persist, with night temperatures dropping to -18°C. The situation is extremely difficult for millions of people, TopChannel reports.
The Ukrainian Air Forces said they intercepted 135 out of 156 Russian drones launched overnight, marking a relatively smaller-scale attack compared to recent weeks. However, 18 locations were still struck, according to the Air Forces.
