Russian Military Aircraft Crashes in Ivanovo Region

A Russian military aircraft has crashed with seven crew members on board, according to the state television channel Vesti.

The AN-22 military transport aircraft reportedly went down in Russia’s Ivanovo region, Telegrafi reports. At this stage, it remains unknown whether any of the crew members survived or what may have caused the crash.

Russian security authorities have not provided details on whether the aircraft was on an active mission or conducting a routine flight at the time of the incident.

The AN-22, believed to belong to the Russian Ministry of Defence, is known as the largest turboprop aircraft ever built, widely used for heavy military transport.
