Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma’s International Affairs Committee and leader of Russia’s Liberal Democratic Party, stated today that U.S. President Donald Trump should direct his threats toward the “Kyiv regime” if he genuinely wishes to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Commenting on Trump’s earlier statement about imposing 100 percent tariffs on Russia and countries purchasing its oil if a peace agreement is not reached within 50 days, Slutsky said, “If Trump truly wants progress in the Ukrainian solution, he should shake his fist at the Zelenskyy regime, not threaten Russia with secondary sanctions,” TASS reported.

Slutsky reiterated that Russia has repeatedly expressed its readiness to end the conflict. He added, “All our proposals are still on the table and we are waiting for the Ukrainian side to agree on the date for the third round of negotiations in Istanbul.”
