An oil refinery in the city of Ryazan, Russia, was completely engulfed in flames following a large-scale drone attack launched by Kyiv on Friday. This attack, the largest by Ukraine so far this year, targeted more than a dozen regions across Russia, including Moscow.

Reports also indicated fires near the Novo-Ryazan power plant.
There have been no reports of casualties, while Russia’s Ministry of Defense stated that over 120 Ukrainian drones had been destroyed across Russian territory.
According to Moscow’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, six drones were shot down over Moscow, with several others downed in surrounding areas such as Shchyolkovo, Kolomna, Ramenskoye, and Podolsk.
Sobyanin stated that there was no major damage or casualties where the drone debris had fallen, but the attack caused significant disruptions in civilian air traffic, temporarily halting operations at Moscow’s three main airports – Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 37 drones were downed in the Bryansk region, while 17 drones were shot down in regions like Kursk and Saratov. Fewer drones were downed in regions such as Rostov, Belgorod, Voronezh, Tula, Oryol, and Lipetsk, according to reports from REL.
Temporary restrictions were also placed on takeoffs and landings at airports in Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, Penza, Samara, and Saratov due to the ongoing threat from drones.
The frequency of Ukraine’s drone attacks on Russia coincided with a series of Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian territory.
In Kyiv, a Russian attack killed three civilians. Significant damage was also reported in residential areas, including considerable destruction in the cities of Fastiv and Brovary near the Ukrainian capital.
Russian forces regularly use various types of weapons, including drones, missiles, and artillery, to target Ukrainian regions, often hitting civilian infrastructure and residential areas.
While Russian authorities deny intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure, Ukraine and international organizations have condemned these actions as war crimes, citing the frequency and deliberate nature of attacks on hospitals, schools, and energy facilities.
