A Russian passenger plane carrying 49 people, including five children and six crew members, has gone missing in the Amur region of Russia, close to the border with China, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has confirmed.

The An-24 aircraft, operated by Angara Airlines, lost contact with air traffic control shortly before reaching its destination in the city of Tynda. The flight was operating along the Habarovsk–Blagoveshchensk–Tynda route.

Authorities launched an immediate search and rescue operation in the remote and mountainous Tyndinsky District, mobilizing all available resources to locate the missing aircraft.

Initial reports indicate that there were no signs of technical malfunction before the plane disappeared from radar. Emergency teams, including rescue workers from the Civil Defense and Fire Safety Center, have been dispatched to the area.

Governor of Amur Oblast, Vasily Orlov, stated that every effort is being made to locate the aircraft. “All necessary forces and means have been deployed to find the An-24,” he confirmed to Russian media outlets TASS and RIA Novosti.

At this time, there is no confirmed information about the condition of the passengers or crew.

The An-24 is a twin-engine turboprop known for regional flights in challenging terrain. The plane is believed to have gone missing just a few kilometers from its intended destination, according to a Reuters report.

The situation remains developing, with authorities urging the public to await verified updates as search efforts intensify in the area.
