At the “Balkan Disinfo 2025” conference, held in Prishtina, experts highlighted the significant presence of Russian propaganda and disinformation campaigns in the Western Balkans, particularly in Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Researcher Festim Rizanaj from the fact-checking platform Hibrid.info presented a report confirming that Russia exploits Kosovo as a pretext for its geopolitical narratives and actively obstructs its international recognition.

North Macedonian journalist Xhelal Neziri emphasized that Russian disinformation efforts remain influential, citing several cases that illustrate Moscow’s ongoing influence in the region. Similarly, Darko Brkan from Bosnia and Herzegovina stressed that Russian narratives are heavily present in his country, shaping public opinion and political discourse.

The “Balkan Disinfo 2025” conference brings together experts from around the world to analyze and counteract disinformation trends in the region, particularly in light of Russia’s hybrid warfare strategies.
