NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, reaffirmed the alliance’s commitment to the Western Balkans, emphasizing the role of KFOR in Kosovo and monitoring developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
His statements were made during a press conference following the NATO Defense Ministers’ meeting in Brussels.
Commenting on developments in Kosovo, Rutte mentioned the electoral process and the efforts of the Central Election Commission to finalize the results, not ruling out the possibility of creating a governing coalition.
“We are heavily involved in Kosovo through KFOR, and we are also closely monitoring and trying to assist in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have excellent reports with the leaders in the region, including Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. In a continuous context, to ensure that anything we can do to contribute to stabilizing the region, we will do. We just had elections in Kosovo. The Central Election Commission is working on the final results, which means there could be a coalition in Kosovo,” Rutte said.
