Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama met today in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Rutte praised Albania’s commitment to NATO and its efforts to reach 2% defense spending this year. He also highlighted Albania’s significant contributions to supporting Ukraine, noting that the country has exceeded expectations.
“It is an honor to have my close friend Rama. Albania is an ally. It will soon achieve NATO’s 2% spending target. You are developing your industrial base through state enterprises. You are helping Ukraine greatly, contributing forces in Latvia, Bulgaria, and Kosovo. You are doing more than your size suggests. Thank you for being a steadfast ally. NATO can rely on Albania, and Albania can rely on NATO,” Rutte said.
