Serbia has released Sadik Duraku, who was arrested in April of this year on suspicions of war crimes from the war in 1999.
The news was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora through a statement on Facebook.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo informs that Mr. Sadik Duraku, a citizen of the Republic of Kosovo and the United Kingdom, who was arrested on April 17, 2024, at the Croatia-Serbia border crossing in Batrovci, under allegations of supposed war crimes during the Kosovo war in 1999,” the announcement states.
Sadik Duraku from Kosovo, who holds British citizenship, was arrested by Serbian authorities on April 17 of this year at the Serbian-Hungarian border.
Since then, he had been held in a prison in Belgrade, facing charges of committing war crimes as a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
