German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that the Afghan suspect involved in the car attack in Munich, which left 28 people injured, should be sentenced and deported from Germany.
“This perpetrator cannot expect any leniency. He must be punished and must be expelled from the country,” Scholz told reporters.
“If it was an attack, we must take continuous actions against potential perpetrators using all means of justice,” he added, according to BBC.
A car crashed into a group of people at a union rally in Munich earlier today.
The incident occurred on Seidlstrasse, in the center of Munich, Germany’s third-largest city by population.
According to the latest police update, at least 28 people were injured, some of them in critical condition.
Police say the driver was a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker who was known for theft and drug offenses.
