Mitrovica, July 27, 2025 – A tragic incident has shaken the city of Mitrovica this afternoon, as emergency services continue the search for a man believed to have drowned in Lake Ujman.
According to sources, the person who is suspected to have jumped from the bridge into the lake and failed to resurface is 33-year-old Rrahim Latifi, originally from the village of Cerajë in Mitrovica.
Latifi, who lived as a diaspora member in Sweden, had recently returned to Kosovo for summer holidays.
Witnesses reported seeing him jump from the bridge, after which no sign of him was seen again.
Emergency response teams, police units, and a water search-and-rescue unit equipped with boats were dispatched to the scene and are continuing their efforts to locate the missing man, even late into the evening.
So far, the reasons that may have led to this tragic act remain unknown.
