Firefighters in Hong Kong are still searching for hundreds of missing people following a massive fire that engulfed several high-rise residential buildings. At least 75 people have died, making it the deadliest fire in the city in over 70 years, at the Wang Fuk Court complex, home to thousands of residents.
The affected towers were undergoing extensive renovations. While the exact cause of the fire remains unclear, police suggest that materials on the exterior of the buildings may have facilitated its rapid spread.
Three construction company executives have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and gross negligence. Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee has promised a full-scale investigation.
Currently, more than 270 people are still missing, and 76 have been injured, according to the Hong Kong Fire Services Department.
