The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has met with NATO’s Secretary General, Mark Rutte. Rama stated that this was his first meeting with the Dutch leader in his new role as NATO Secretary General.
“With my special friend and now unwavering supporter of Albania, Mark Rutte, in our first meeting as Secretary General of NATO, after 14 years at the helm of the Dutch government,” Rama wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, the day before, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that stability in the Western Balkans remains fragile while discussing the November 29 attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal. He emphasized the vulnerability of the region’s stability and expressed support for efforts to maintain security in the area.
Rutte also thanked the commander of KFOR for the swift response in deploying troops to protect critical infrastructure from further damage. He highlighted that NATO remains committed to ensuring the implementation of the UN mandate by KFOR.
“We remain committed to ensuring that KFOR fulfills its UN mandate. Now it is crucial to verify the facts and hold those responsible accountable,” Rutte said, calling for a full investigation into the incident.
